Left of Boom develops crisis management, business continuity, and communications plans, builds the evidence base behind them, and runs the executive workshops that set an organisation's risk priorities.
Crisis management and business continuity are related but distinct disciplines. Crisis management is about how leadership makes decisions, communicates, and manages stakeholders when something threatens the organisation. Business continuity is about keeping critical business functions running, or recovering them, while that happens. Left of Boom plans for both disciplines separately, and combines them into a single plan where that best suits the organisation.
Crisis Management Plan Development produces a plan aligned to an organisation's operating risk profile, governance, and team structures. The plan defines how the Crisis Management Team activates, makes decisions, communicates, and manages stakeholders during an incident that threatens people, operations, or reputation.
A Crisis Communications Plan sets out how an organisation communicates during a crisis. Left of Boom develops the plan covering communications governance, spokesperson protocols, stakeholder mapping, and pre-approved message frameworks, so the organisation speaks with one coordinated voice under pressure.
Business Continuity Plan Development produces a plan covering activation procedures, alternate operating arrangements, supplier and logistics coordination, communications, and recovery prioritisation. Plans are aligned to ISO 22301 and built on the organisation's actual dependencies rather than a generic template.
A Business Impact Analysis Workshop is a facilitated session that identifies an organisation's critical business functions and their dependencies across people, systems, suppliers, and infrastructure. The workshop establishes Recovery Time Objectives and Recovery Point Objectives, forming the evidence base for business continuity planning.
An integrated Business Continuity and Crisis Management Plan combines both disciplines in a single document, including business impact analysis, recovery strategies, governance, activation pathways, and decision-making frameworks. It gives an organisation the capability to prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from incidents that threaten people, operations, communities, and reputation.
Site-Level Template Plan Development produces a crisis management plan template that can be rolled out across multiple sites, with adjustments for each site's operational status and risk profile. It gives multi-site organisations consistency in crisis arrangements without forcing identical plans onto different operating environments.
A Strategic Risk Workshop is a facilitated executive session that identifies, assesses, and prioritises strategic and operational risks across an organisation. Left of Boom uses its PERSCORE framework to assess impacts across People, Environment, Reputational, Systems, Community and Customers, Operations, Regulatory, and Economic domains, producing a prioritised risk register the executive team owns.
“Left of Boom was engaged by De Grey Mining Ltd in early 2021 to assist in the development of a Crisis Management and Response capability, including the development of a fit for purpose plan and training for the Crisis Management Team. It was not possible to conduct either the plan development or the training face to face due to border lockdowns for Covid-19, but Grant and his team still delivered an outstanding result for De Grey through the innovative use of technology to ensure the quality of the Crisis plan and team development was not compromised. Both the plan and the team were tested when they were required to respond to a rapidly developing bushfire that threatened our operations over a number of days, with the plan and the team, supported throughout by the Left of Boom team, responding to the emergency in a decisive and effective manner. Feedback after the event from the newly formed De Grey Crisis Management Team clearly identified the quality of the training and support provided by Left of Boom.”
